Gwin is Dustfinger's companion horned marten. He follows Dustfinger everywhere. Gwin was read out from the Inkworld along with Dustfinger, Basta, and Capricorn. Gwin spent ten years in the real world wirh Dustfinger. Gwin took a liking to Farid, a boy Mo read out from his story. In Inkheart, Dustfinger found out that his death was to be caused by Gwin. Gwin, along with Meggie and Farid, is returned to the Inkworld by Meggie. Gwin takes a disliking to Dustfinger's new marten Jink.
